I'll try to fill in the local appearances and more descriptions when I get a chance. For now I recommend the Silversun Pickups new record and the Spoon reissues (if you don't already have them).
Adam Green: Jacket Full of Danger (Rough Trade) – I’ve never had patience for this guy.
Alan Sparhawk: Solo Guitar – The main dude from Low plays guitar. Probably only for hardcore instrumental guitar fans.
Ali Farka Toure: Savane (Nonesuch) – For the world music/Buena Vista Social Club fans.
Anavan: Anavan (GSL) - Reissue
Archie Bronson Outfit: Derdang Derdang (Domino) – Domestic Release
Edie Brickell & New Bohemians: Stranger Things (Fantasy) – Their first album in like 16 years.
Erase Errata: Nightlife (Kill Rock Stars)
Excepter: Alternation (5 Rue Christine)
Ghostface Killah: Live In New York City (Full Clip Media) – Live album
Harvey Danger: Little by Little... (Kill Rock Stars) – Lots of poppy piano
Joan Of Arc: Eventually, All At Once (Polyvinyl) – Collects all their Japanese bonus tracks
John Doe: For the Best of Us (Yep Rock) – Reissue of his 1998 EP with some bonus tracks.
Jurassic 5: Feedback (Interscope) – Backpack rappers
The Knife: Silent Shout (Mute) – Domestic release
The Long Winters: Putting The Days To Bed (Barsuk)
Mark Fosson: The Lost Takoma Sessions (Drag City)
Midlake: The Trials of Van Occupanther (Bella Union) – Dallas band. Jason Lee’s a big fan.
Mika Miko: C.Y.S.L.A.B.F. (Kill Rock Stars) – Local all girl punk band.
Motor: Klunk (Mute)
New York Dolls: One Day It Will Please Us To Remember Even This (Roadrunner) - It’s been over 20 years since their last album. I saw them at Spaceland recently and they’re really old.
Old Crow Medicine Show: Down Home Girl EP (Nettwerk)
Panda and Angel: Panda and Angel EP (Jade Tree)
Puffy AmiYumi: Splurge (Tofu) – Japanese girl band that you may know from their show on Cartoon Network or from the theme song to Teen Titans.
Rosewood Thieves: From Decker House EP (V2)
Say Hi To Your Mom: Impeccable Blahs (Rebel Group)
Silversun Pickups: Carnavas (Dangerbird) – This should be this local band’s breakout album. Definitely worth picking up, particularly if you like early 1990's rock bands like the Smashing Pumpkins. They're having a record release party at Sea Level in Echo Park tonight at 8:00PM (food and drinks and listening party).
The Sleepy Jackson: Personality (Astralwerks)
Spoon: Telephono & Soft Effects (remastered) (Merge) – Pretty good albums, worth picking up if you don’t already have them.
Tom Petty: Highway Companion (American)
Various Artists: Leonard Cohen: I'm Your Man (soundtrack) (Verve)
Velvet Teen: Cum Laude (Slow Dance)
Venus Hum: The Colors of the Wheel (Nettwerk)
White Whale: WWI (Merge) – Matt Suggs’ from Butterglory’s new band. I used to love Butterglory.
Will Kimbrough: Americanitis (Emergent)
