Live Music Options: 7/5/10 - 7/11/10

Kind of a light week for live music...

Last week was good though. I saw Tame Impala on Monday night. Good crowd. I wasn't super impressed (cool sound, but the songs weren't great and the vocals didn't do anything for me) , but they've got some potential. On Thursday night I had a great time seeing Devo at Hollywood Park. Only $8 to get in and I walked away with $86 in gambling winnings. On Friday I caught a little bit of the Les Blanks/Le Switch show at the Grand Star in Chinatown. Hadn't been there in about six years....

Sinking Radio Reminder - Today at 2:00 PM

Here's a reminder to point your internet browsers to LittleRadio.com today from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM for the Sinking Radio show. Todd's still out of town, but Sean Johnson will be guest hosting and Kenan Bell will be stopping by. Kenan Bell will be joining Fol Chen at this Sunday's Summer Camp.
I don't have time to write it at the moment, but I'll be throwing the Byrds into the mix for my East Coast vs. West Coast debate. Expect one of their tracks on today's Sinking Radio show....

Fol Chen Signs to Asthmatic Kitty

Big news from local band Fol Chen. They've recently signed with Asthmatic Kitty Records where they'll be labelmates with bands like Sufjan Stevens, My Brightest Diamond and Castanets. Be on the lookout for their AK debut, Part 1: John Shade, Your Fortune's Made on February 3, 2009.

You can see Fol Chen do a sound installation live at the LA County Museum of Art on 11/15/08. They'll be playing a more (presumably) traditional show at the Echo on 11/18/08.

Congrats guys....
