Lykke Li Plays a Few Local Shows

I almost had to move a cot into the Satellite last week. I saw Richard Swift and Everest on Monday (two artists I really like). The crowd could have been more respectful of Swfit (it was a loud, free Monday night show) but he impressed the patient patrons. Imaad Wasif impressed me on Tuesday. He recently added Seb (from Division Day) on bass and they shredded. Endless Boogie was fun after (I got too tired to stay for Arbouretum). Then on Thursday I saw an early candidate for show of the year, Mavis Staples. So damn good. I'm not really a religious person, but I'll listen to gospel all day long with her singing it. Then on Friday it was the Elephant 6 show (more on that via Twitter).

This week's kind of a pre-SXSW lull, but still some cool stuff...

Ticket Giveaway: Autolux and The Soft Moon at the Echoplex

I've got a couple of pairs of tickets to give away for the Autolux show this Friday at the Echoplex. The Soft Moon opens the show. If you've never seen Autolux, I highly recommend checking them out. Really good live band. What I've heard from the Soft Moon is cool too (with a cold/krauty/Joy Division vibe).

To win these tickets email me [dukeufo at gmail] with the name of your favorite record of the new year. Please put "Autolux Contest" in the subject line. The contest closes Thursday at 7:00 PM and winners will be notified later that night.

MP3: The Soft Moon - Tiny Spiders (via Pitchfork)
MP3: Autolux - Supertoys (via Pitchfork)
