I've loved the Very Be Careful for a very long time. They make you want to dance without seeming too synthetically Latin Pop (see Paulina Rubio, Shakira, Rickey Martin, puke) or too divergent from Latin roots music (see Latin/Reaggae infusion).

$12 is a bit steep, but you will definitely have fun. No need to worry about gangster douchebags at their shows, everyone there is an indie wanting to dance, as un-rhythmically awful as it can get; everyone deserves a chance to dance.
