Ticket Giveaway - The Music Tapes This Sunday

If you were a big Elephant 6 fan (guilty) then you're probably familiar with Julian Koster. Koster, the front man of The Music Tapes, was responsible for a lot of the interesting, odd instrumentation that added psychedelic elements to Neutral Milk Hotel and Olivia Tremor Control's music.

Koster is eccentric; his voice has a warbliness to it that's interpreted as either honest and childlike, or off key. On top of that, the singing saw takes front and center in much of the Music Tapes' music. Their most recent album, Music Tapes for Clouds and Tornadoes, is lo-fi and weird - a definite love it or hate it record.

I've got three pairs of tickets to give away for The Music Tapes appearance at the Echoplex this Sunday. Opening the show will be Nana Grizol and Brian Dewan. To win a pair of tickets, email me [dukeufo at gmail] with the name of your favorite Elephant 6 band (or record). Please put "Music Tapes" in the subject line. The contest closes Friday at Noon.
