Live Music Options: 6/27/11 - 7/3/11

The Rosebuds Play the Satellite on Friday (along with Other Lives)

The highlight of last week for me, was finally seeing Dr. John. Great band (Shannon Powell on drums) and a good setlist. He played new stuff, but threw in some of the greatest hits too. For a guy over 70, he's still amazingly cool.

Local Updates:

Charlie Wadhams has a new EP entitled, In a Goldmine. You can download it at iTunes or pick up a vinyl copy at Amoeba.

Obi Best’s new record, Capades, comes out February 24th on Social Science Recordings. They’ll be hitting road for a national tour (including support dates for The Bird and the Bee) starting next week. Spin recently had some nice things to say about them.

A pretty big chunk of the SXSW bands have been announced. Here are the LA-area bands currently listed. Of the 81 bands listed, I’m pretty familiar with 41 of them.
