Radiohead Presale This Friday

As you probably already know, Radiohead finally officially announced their two summer shows at the Hollywood Bowl. The shows will take place Sunday August 24th and Monday August 25th. Liars will open both shows. Unfortunately, you already missed the presale on Radiohead's website, but they weren't giving seat assignments yet anyway (so it was a leap of faith). KROQ and Hewitt/Silva have a presale starting Friday at 10:00 AM (you'll need the password). Otherwise, you can wait until Saturday at 10:00 AM. Tickets are $39-75. You can road trip to San Diego for a show on Wednesday and Santa Barbara on Thursday.
I've seen Radiohead several times (1998 at Universal, 2003 at the Hollywood Bowl and 2004 at Coachella) and they put on a fantastic show. They played the Whiskey, Troubadour, Palace and Wiltern back in the day before I lived here.

Radio Station Holiday Shows

It’s the holiday season and the radio stations are starting to announce their annual holiday concerts.

Tickets for the Indie 103 Bands in Toy Land celebration at the Avalon are already on sale. The show takes place on Wednesday December 5th and will feature performances by Datarock, Spoon, Pinback and Sea Wolf.

Buy Tickets for Indie 103 Bands in Toy Land HERE ($30)

KROQ has announced the lineups for their Almost Acoustic Christmas shows on December 8th and 9th at the Gibson, but no on sale date yet.

Day 1 appeals to one demo (not me) with a bunch of bands I’ve never listened to (with the exception of Bad Religion): Linkin Park / Angels & Airwaves / Avenged Sevenfold / Bad Religion / Paramore / Rise Against / Serj Tankian @ Gibson Amphitheatre

Day 2 appeals much more to my demo with a bunch of bands I’ve seen before and (most of which) I’d happily see again: Muse / Feist / Jimmy Eat World / Modest Mouse / The Shins / Silversun Pickups / Spoon @ Gibson Amphitheatre

Spiritualized Announce LA Dates

Who: Spiritualized doing their Acoustic Mainlines Tour (with strings and backup singers)
Where: Vista Theatre (I've never seen a live show there)
When: November 11th and November 12th, 2007
Why: I'd much rather see them do a fully plugged in show, but this is all you're gonna get for now. I've seen them put on two amazing shows (once opening for Radiohead at Universal and once at La Zona Rosa in Austin) and once they put on an OK show.
Tickets: Not on sale yet, but expect them to go on sale through Ticketweb later this week.

Bjork Date Announced

Who: Bjork / Ratatat
When: December 12, 2007
Where: Nokia Theatre LA Live
How: Tickets go on sale Saturday at 10:00AM
Price: $45-$125
Why: Even though I don't listen to her records that much, she's a great live performer.

The Midnight Movies and The Happy Hollows open the show.
Silversun Pickups are nominated for The Breaking Woodie award for the best emerging artist at the MTVu. Check out the full list of nominees and vote for SSPU HERE.

Neil Young Coming to LA on 10/30/07

Billboard reports that Neil Young will be playing a live show at the new Nokia Theatre (L.A. Live) on October 30, 2007. "Young will be backed on the road by multi-instrumentalist Ben Keith, drummer Ralph Molina and bassist Rick Rosas. His wife Pegi, who recently released her first solo album, will serve as the tour's opening act." I've only seen do his solo acoustic thing live, but this sounds like a nice hybrid that will be cool to see. The tour coincides with the release of Chrome Dreams II on October 16th. If you don't have the Chrome Dreams you should track that bootleg down.

The Nokia Theatre's part of that new downtown center that Philip Anshutz's (billionaire, conservative Christian and fellow University of Kansas alum) company is developing near the Staples Center. It will hold 7,100 people and promises "state-of-the-art acoustics and seating." It also promises to make my commute even more horrific (I honsetly didn't think it was possible). The Theatre opens on October 18th with an Eagles/Dixie Chicks concert.
No word yet on when tickets go on sale....

Buzzcocks @ Spaceland on 8/17

When: Friday August 17, 2007
Where: Spaceland
How: Tickets on sale today at noon for Spaceland's email subscribers HERE; on sale to general public on Saturday.
Why: For my money, the Buzzcocks are one of the best punk bands of the late 1970s. No serious rock music collection is complete without Singles Going Steady.
