Live Music Options: 4/11/11 - 4/17/11

Yuck Play the Echo Wednesday and The Satellite on Thursday

I caught Casey Veggies, Dom Kennedy and Freddie Gibbs at the Echo on Tuesday. Veggies has potential but just needs to keep working. The highlight for most was when Tyler from Odd Future jumped on stage for the final song. Dom Kennedy had a few tight tracks. Gibbs was good, but a little mumblecore. I think the completely inattentive crowd was throwing him off his shit. I thought indie rock crowds were kinda lame, but Tuesday's crowd was just awful...

Monday 4/11/11

[Recommended] Walking Sleep / Rabbits Rabbits Rabbits / Heroes and Heroines / The Breakups @ The Satellite (Free) – Rabbits Rabbits Rabbits features the former lead singer of Mezzanine Owls. Walking Sleep continues its residency.
[Recommended] Amanda Jo Williams / Leslie Stevens / Wimberly Bluegrass Band @ The Echo (Free) – Amando Jo Williams’ residency, but check out Leslie Stevens too.

[Recommended] Yuck / Porcelain Raft @ The Echo ($12) – I was impressed with Yuck’s recent performance at the Echo. Fans of bands like Dinosaur Jr. should approve. Also at the Satellite on Thursday.

Coachella: Kings of Leon / Black Keys / Interpol @ Empire Polo Club (Sold Out) – I’ve seen 11 of the bands playing today. I recommend catching: Black Joe Lewis, Lauryn Hill, Sleigh Bells, The Black Keys, The Morning Benders, Pains of Being Pure at Heart and Warpaint.

I recommend seeing: Animal Collective, Delta Spirit, Erykah Badu, Mariachi El Bronx, Phosphorescent, Raphael Saadiq, The Henry Clay People, The Joy Formidable, The Radio Dept., The Tallest Man Alive and Wire.
