Live Music Picks

I checked out The King of France, The Can't See and The Helio Sequence at Spaceland on Friday. I didn't realize it before the show, but none of these bands has bass players. The King of France were interesting enough to make me appreciate their album even more. The Can't See was boring enough to make me never want to hear their album. The Helio Sequence was just as good as the last time I saw them. I also saw The King of France at Sea Level on Saturday afternoon. Quick, but solid show. I dropped by Spaceland late on Sunday night and it was a ghost town. Maybe 20 people there. I missed the bands. That's the Editors at the left.

Tuesday
Editors @ Cinespace - Good luck getting into this one. Apparently you can/could get tickets at Turntable Lab. I heard the line last night at Spaceland was snaked around the venue and up the street by 9:30 PM. Anybody check it out? I read some blogs that liked it, but they didn't go into any detail....

be your own PET @ Troubadour [$10] - Female fronted band of teenagers from Nashville with label buzz. Crunchy rock.

I thought I was at the Editors show at Spaceland, but it turns out I was actually in some porn studio in the valley watching actual film editors work.

i mean, they're good at what they do (editing... film), but i think i would have enjoyed The Editors a little more. Oh well. Next time...
