Thursday Night Music Options 2/8/07

Eleni Mandell at the Echo Tonight

Thursday's Pick:
Eleni Mandell / Ferraby Lionheart / Charlie Wadhams @ the Echo ($8) – Eleni Mandell’s celebrating the release of her new record (Miracle of Five out last Tuesday on Zedtone Records). Torchy, female singers aren’t something I regularly listen to, but she’s so talented it completely transcends genre. This record should appeal to fans of Jenny Lewis, Cat Power and Norah Jones. Read up on her at No Depression and Bust Magazine. Get there early enough to see the talented openers.

I know less about these, but how about these....
Jucifer / Sasquatch / Sirhan Sirhan @ the Scene – If what I just wrote about Eleni Mandell made you feel like vomiting, then this will be more your scene. Bring your earplugs.
Sparklehorse / Tom Brosseau @ Fingerprints Records in Long Beach 6:30PM (Free) – Sparklehorse will be at the Fonda tomorrow. They tour about once every eight years so you should probably go see them.
Ringside / Mumiy Troll / Donita Sparks @ the Roxy ($14) – Ringside is Balthazar Getty’s band. Mumiy Troll is from Russia. Donita Sparks used to be the lead singer of L7.
Hello Menno / Hopewell @ Silverlake Lounge ($7)
Bill Kirchen / Tony Gilkyson / Johnny Dilks @ Safari Sam's ($12) - Kirchen was the guitarist for Commander Cody. Gilkyson's a great guitarist who played in X and plays with Mike Stinson
