LA Live Music Options 6/2/08 - 6/8/08

I didn't get out much last week. Finally saw a few songs from Princeton and Grande Ole Party on Saturday night. This week I'm most looking forward to the Whigs with Henry Clay People and Le Switch. Radio Alert: Aimee Mann on Morning Becomes Eclectic (89.9 FM/KCRW)
[Recommended] Bobb Bruno / Darylalexander / Fantastic Sleep / Voice on Tape @ the Smell ($5) – Bobb sports a bunny suit and plays drums along to looped tracks. It’s oddly compelling.
[Recommended] Afternoons / Warpaint / Kenan Bell / Gus Black @ Spaceland (Free) – Afternoons is doing the Monday night residency at Spaceland this month. After Alex Church left Irving to form Sea Wolf, the rest of the guys started this band, adding some additional friends. Tonight’s lineup is maybe the most diverse of the month.

[Recommended] The Whigs / The Henry Clay People / Le Switch @ The Echo ($13) – The Whigs were one of my favorite bands at SXSW this year. They play unpretentious rock ‘n’ roll that just sounds really good. And they’re playing with two of my favorite local bands. I’ve got a couple of pairs of tickets to give away for this one.
