Neil Young: Sugar Mountain – Live at Canterbury House 1968 (Reprise) – Recorded in Ann Arbor, MI on November 9th and 10th in 1968 after he left Buffalo Springfield, but right before his self-titled debut came out. It’s solo acoustic Neil (which I adore). I’ve only streamed it online a couple of times (because it’s on my Christmas list) but it’s essential listening for Neil fans. Some of the arrangements are a bit different - which is often an improvement. There’s also some great between song anecdotes/introductions. At times he sounds a bit like he might have sucked down a couple of valiums before the show, but it’s interesting to hear how his voice has changed over the years. Highly recommended.
