If you're not doing anything this Saturday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, there's an opening reception for new solo shows from Mel Kadel and Travis Millard at the Richard Heller Gallery. I first met Travis when he was about 15 and I know Mel through Travis. Music fans will recognize Mel's work from the Silversun Pickups' Pikul EP and Irving's Good Morning Beautiful. Music fans will know Travis' work from the Get Up Kids and Brian Jonestown Massacre. Alcoholics will know it from the bathroom at Little Joy in Echo Park and the Taproom in Lawrence, KS.
