Pitchfork gave Toronto’s Born Ruffians debut album (on Warp) a respectable 8.0/10. What I’ve heard on Myspace is pretty good indie rock. Pfork gave Montreal’s Plants and Animals that same 8.0/10.

Hayes Carll / South Austin Jug Band @ the Mint ($12) – Carll had some good buzz at Stagecoach last year. He’s on Lost Highway records.
