Highlights of Wednesday's Calendar 8/1/07

Stevenson Ranch Davidians Play the Echo Tonight

Last night was all about the big buzz bands. Tonight's all about the undiscovered local bands....
Wednesday's Highlights:
Tune In – Bat for Lashes on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic at 11:15AM.
Film Screening: All My Loving @ Egyptian Theatre [7:30PM] – Closing night of the Mods and Rockers film festival includes a Q&A with director Tony Palmer. The triple feature will be followed by a live performance from Spencer Davis and Strawberry Alarm Clock.
Live Shows:
The Binges / Bolero @ 3 of Clubs (Free) – Bolero is Josh Schwartz’s (Beachwood Sparks, Further) new band that I really want to check out.
Paul and Oates @ Taix (Free) – Paul and Oates is the soft rock side project of Matt and Paul from Qui. They’re doing a month long residency at Taix before they head out for most of September and October with Qui.
Bodies of Water @ Mr. T’s Bowl – People are loving the new Bodies of Water LP. Little Radio just gave it 5/5 stars. They’re getting a lot of Danielson Family comparisons probably at least partially due to the Christian element to their music. They’re insanely energetic live.
Adeline @ the Derby
The Format / Limbeck @ Avalon ($17.50 / $21 after svc charges) – Good lineup.
The Stevenson Ranch Davidians / Spindrift / Lion of Panjshir @ the Echo ($5) – The Stevenson Ranch Davidians are a neo-psych band along the lines of the Beachwood Sparks. They’re doing a Wednesday night residency at the Echo in August. Fans of The Parson Red Heads should take a listen.
Signal Hill Transmission @ the Silverlake Lounge ($7)
Lily Marlene / Dirt Bird @ Bordello ($5)
Club NME: Great Glass Elevator @ Spaceland
Just Jack @ Montmartre Lounge – RSVP HERE
