Monday Night's Live Music Calendar 10/1/07

The One and Only Morrissey
Monday's Pick 10/1/07:

Morrissey / Kristeen Young @ Palladium ($55) – This is the first of ten shows that will close down the Palladium (to be re-opened after a remodel). If you’ve never seen Morrissey live, you really should check him out. It’s a very unique experience. A big part of the show is watching fans rush the stage just to try to touch him. Plus he’s a really good singer and plays lots of the hits.
Free Local Residencies:
Oliver Future / Asher / Salt & Samovar @ Spaceland (Free) – Oliver Future are doing the Spaceland residency this month. I’m not too familiar with them, but I’ll make it out to see them at least one of these nights.
Castledoor @ the Echo (Free) – Castledoor’s doing the Echo residency in October. Kevin Bronson’s a fan. They recently did a successful Silverlake Lounge residency and Aaron Espinosa recorded their new album (due out next year).
Aushua / Austin James Band / Allegra Gellar @ Silverlake Lounge (Free) – Aushua was Bronson’s pick at the recent Now Blog This show at the Scene. They’re from the OC and play anthemic rock.
Other Options:

The Black Angels / Spindrift @ Troubadour ($14) – The Black Angels are from Austin and sound a bit like the Brian Jonestown Massacre. They played for free at the Swerve Festival this weekend (anybody go?), but if you missed them you can pay $14 tonight.

Burning Brides / The Rolling Blackouts @ Viper Room ($10 or free with RSVP) – Heavier rock.

Rocktobeerfest 80s Hair Metal Cover Night: Buddy, others @ Hotel Café
