A Few Thoughts

Banksy - Did anybody else check out the exhibit? This is probably a little harsh - but I found it about as thought-provoking as a Jenna Jameson film.

The Little Ones - Apparently the rumors we've all been hearing are true, the bloggers are reporting that they officially signed with Astralwerks. Anybody else hear those stories about their other label meetings? Funny.

Pernice Brothers - Long time readers probably know that I think the Pernice Brothers are one of the most underrated bands. They're currently streaming their new album on their website and if you pre-order the album by 9/22 you'll get a bonus homemade CD with 17 bonus tracks and a cover designed and signed by Joe Pernice. They always come up with great ways to have a direct relationship with their fans.

Elliott Smith - Four more Basement-era unreleased tracks over at Elliott Smith b-sides. Get them while you can.

Dude, what is that Banksy thing all about? Whats the deal there? I read that blog, and walked away with a "so what" vibe. What gives?

Also, most importantly, I want to know why that elephant didn't go berserk and stampede all over those "celebrities" gawking at it.

my apologies for posting about banksy. the elephant was way mellower than i would have been if hundreds of suburbanites and downtown art scene types had been holding cameras in my face while i was naked and painted pink.

the exhibit managed to take Banksy's pretty clever illegally done art and wrap it up in a nice little package for yuppies and celebrites to go to and then say "I went to the Banksy exhibit" in fruity voice to their friends at dinner parties. Also I fucked that elephant.

to ringhoff's point - i do think the pieces work much better as graffiti art.

Is elephant sex any good? I would imagine that trunk is good for quite a few things, no?
