Five Most Interesting New Releases 7/31/07

Top Five Most Interesting New Releases:
1990s: Cookies (Rough Trade) – See them at the Echo on 8/5 or the Troubadour on 8/7. Upbeat Scots. Download “You’re Supposed to Be My Friend
Bat for Lashes: Fur and Gold (Caroline) – The hottest (both literally and figuratively) new British export. Adored by Thom Yorke. Considered freak-folk (but she sounds more listenable than a lot of that stuff). See her at Spaceland tomorrow 7/31 and hear her on Morning Becomes Eclectic on Wednesday (August 1).
Dave Davies: Fractured Mindz (Koch) – The first album since his stroke in 2004. As you may know, the Kinks are my favorite band of all time.
The Nobility: The Mezzanine (Self-Released) – Nashville indie pop band that I’m really enjoying right now. I recently profiled them HERE. Download “Halleluiah Chorus
The Phantom Family Halo: The Legend of Black Six (Cold Sweat) – They spent a bunch of time in LA last week. Mellowly psychedelic. Download “Black River” and “Lady Blue
