Weekend Music Options 3/17/07-3/18/07

Au Revoir Simone Play the Knitting Factory on Sunday
Saturday's Pick (3/17/07):
The Parson Red Heads / Castaneda / Janet Klein and the Parlour Boys @ Bordello ($10) – The Bordello is the space formerly known as Little Pedro’s. The Parson Red Heads recently put out an album called King Giraffe. They’re good retro rockers along the same lines as the Beachwood Sparks.
Other Options:
The Youngs @ the Cocaine in Little Tokyo ($5) – Recent transplants to LA. Eccentric.
Dragonforce @ House of Blues (Sold Out) – Kind of like the Darkness does Metallica.
St. Patrick’s Day Party: Ollin Performing the Pogues Rum Sodomy and the Lash @ Spaceland ($10)
The Presets / Crystal Castles @ Ex_Plex ($17) – Electro-disco fun for the indie dance crowd.

Sunday 3/18/07
TV Alert: The Rolling Stones Rock ‘n’ Roll Circus on KCET 8:00PM – I just watched this for the first time last night. It’s really good. There’s live footage of Jethro Tull, Taj Majal, Marianne Faithful, John Lennon (with Eric Clapton and Keith Richards), Yoko Ono (ok, maybe this isn’t very cool, but its certainly annoying) and classic Brian Jones-era Stones performances. You even see Gram Parsons looking very wasted in the background.
Sunday's Pick:
Au Revoir Simone / Under Byen / Frida Hyvonen @ Knitting Factory ($12) – Au Revoir Simone is a Brooklyn based trio of ladies with keyboards. Apparently David Lynch is a fan. Download Au Revoir Simone’s “Through the Backyards” and Under Byen’s “Hjertebarn” watch Friday Hyvonen’s video for “I Drive My Friend”
Other Options on Sunday:
Dragonforce @ House of Blues
Via Violenta @ the Scene (Free) – This is one of the Scene’s free Sunday afternoon barbeque shows.
Part Time Punks: Tunng / DJ Alan McGee @ the Echo ($10)
