Weekend Music Options 3/23/07 - 3/24/07

Big Business (yes they're messing with you) Play the Troubadour Saturday
A bunch of tickets go on sale Saturday at 10:00 AM. Peter Bjorn and John / Fujiya and Miyagi at the Fonda on 5/17; Bebel Gilberto at El Rey on 5/10 and 5/11; Daft Punk @ LA Sports Arena on 7/21 goes on sale at NOON.
Saturday's Pick:
Red Sparowes / Big Business @ Troubadour ($12) – Red Sparowes play intense instrumental music. The band features the guitarist from ISIS and the visual guy behind Neurosis. Big Business is on the local label, Hydra Head and features former members of Karp. Should be a nice, heavy night at the Troubadour.
Also recommended:
Elvis Perkins / Let’s Go Sailing @ Largo – Largo’s the perfect place to see this show. See Friday’s preview for their show at the Echo.
Gilberto Gil @ Royce Hall (Sold Out) – The Brazilian legend.
Rock Paper Scissors Rumble: Cheeseburger / No Age @ ExPlx ($8 adv / $10 dos) – Cheeseburger play sort of jokey, party anthems – like a hipper version of Andrew WK.
The Sharp Ease @ the Smell ($5) – This is their last show. Their bass player is leaving and the band is splintering.
Tobias Froberg @ Room 5 [143 North La Brea]- Paul Simon-influenced Swede.
I don't know, do you know?
Mandy Moore @ Hotel Café (Sold Out)
Noxagt / David Scott Stone @ the Scene
West Indian Girl / Slow Signal Fade @ Spaceland ($10)

Sunday's Choices:
Heavens / Boom Bip @ El Rey
The Gears @ Safari Sam’s ($10) – This is an early show – 6:00PM – 9:30 PM
Tribute to Prince: Kamran’s Birthday Party @ Spaceland – Kamran works for Spaceland Recordings. It’s his birthday.
Part Time Punks @ the Echo ($5)
Mika @ Troubadour (Sold Out) - He's being hyped as the new Scissor Sisters. He's in some new commercial. He seems very silly.
