Weekend Music Options 3/31/07 & 4/1/07

TV on the Radio Play the Fonda
Saturday's Pick [3/31/07]:
TV on the Radio / Noisettes @ the Fonda (Sold Out) – The second of two sold out shows. If I didn’t have a wedding to attend…..
Also Appearing:
Earl Greyhound / The Starlight Desperation / Lion Fever @ Troubadour ($10) – I recommended Early Greyhound a bunch of times recently when they played the Silverlake Lounge. They played some well received shows at SXSW.
Mike Watt & the Missingmen / The Bellrays @ Safari Sam’s ($10) – This is a benefit and there are about 15 bands playing. The Bellrays are scheduled to go on at 8 and Mike Watt right after them.
Maria Taylor / Whispertown 2000 @ the Echo ($10) – Early show at 5:00PM (get there before the club night starts). Maria Taylor was the singer in Azure Ray. Conor Oberst appears on her new record.
Mitch Easter @ Silverlake Lounge ($10) – This is an early show, the Slounge turns into a Mexican gay bar on weekend nights. Easter was in Let’s Active (a perennial pop favorite for the record collector crowd) and produced my favorite R.E.M. stuff, Chronic Town and Murmur. He’s got a new solo record out.
This Song Is a Mess But So Am I @ the Smell ($5)

Sunday's Options [4/1/07]:
You Am I / Har Mar Superstar @ Spaceland ($12) – Veteran Australian rockers. Lee Ranaldo produced their early stuff.
Marc Ford @ the Echo (Free) – The Echo’s starting their Sunday afternoon country barbeques again. Marc Ford is the on again off again guitarist for the Black Crowes, who puts out his own music too.
Part Time Punks @ the Echo ($5) – The DJs celebrate April Fool’s Day by playing all covers. Or maybe not.
