Tuesday's Pick:
Dr. Octagon (Kool Keith) @ Safari Sam's ($25) - For the hip hop fans. He was in the Ultramagnetic MCs and Beck has ripped him off. He's completely bananas, so you don't know what you're going to get. Haven't heard the new Dr. Octagon record, but the first one is good. Sex Style is my favorite record.

Explosions in the Sky @ El Rey Theatre (Sold Out) - Instrumental indie rock. When I lived in Austin I saw one of these guys all the time and had no idea he was in a cool band. They do the music for the Friday Night Lights.
The Grates @ Spaceland ($8) - Australian female fronted poppy-punky. This is the LA Weekly's pick. The CD didn't make much of an impression on me, but a lot of people seem to dig it.
The Nightwatchman (Tom Morello solo acoustic) / Alexi Murdoch @ Hotel Cafe (Sold Out)
