Tuesday Night Music Picks 11/28/06

Tonight's Pick:
Let’s Independent w/ The Devil Romantics / The Spires / Mezzanine Owls @ Boardner’s ($6) – Radio Free Silver Lake presents their third monthly party at Boardner’s. I had a lot of fun at the first one. I’m not super familiar with any of these bands, but he usually picks really good bands.
Also Appearing:
The Hidden Cameras / The Minor Canon @ Echo ($12) – From the All Music Guide: “A mix of queer politics, explicit sexuality, symphonic indie pop, and theatrical spectacle that borders on the religious.”
Evangelicals @ Spaceland ($7) – Straight up indie rock from Norman, OK. Download “Here Comes Trouble” and “Another Day
Mark Eitzel / Thailand / Bedroom Walls @ Silverlake Lounge ($10) – Mark Eitzel was in American Music Club. He’s performing all new songs. Also on Friday at Spaceland. I had the album Everclear for a while, but never got that into it.
Handsome Family / Chapin Sisters @ El Cid ($12) – From the LA Weekly: “Like Porter Wagoner and Jackson Browne slowed to 16 rpm, Handsome Family’s vision of Americana stems from influences as subtle as life in underrated Albuquerque to glove paralysis and other swamp things sucking at the fringes of the American experience.”
The Lovemakers / Gram Rabbit @ Troubadour ($12) – The Lovemakers are apparently influenced by the Human League? Gram Rabbit is not.
The Nightwatchman (Tom Morello acoustic) / Alexi Murdoch @ Hotel Café – With guests Perry Farrell and Nuno Bettencourt

Nuno Bettencourt at the Hotel Cafe!?!? Now that's what I call music. I guess he'll offer more than words this evening!

Get it? More than words.

He was in that 80's hair band Extreme.

They did "More Than Words."

Ah, ferget it...
