Los Angeles @ CMJ

Since everybody I’ve been talking to or about for the last few weeks is at CMJ, I figured I’d do a post about Los Angeles bands at CMJ. I’m sure I missed a few, but just look down the list and see the diversity of the LA music scene. A few of these guys are celebrating recent national attention from first albums (SSPU, Little Ones, Cold War Kids, Division Day), there are some promising new bands that most of us haven’t gotten a chance to see yet (Western States Motel, The Airborne Toxic Event, Ferraby Lionheart), and veteran bands that are celebrating their new albums (Irving and The Tyde) and another band that’s probably entertaining offers to release their next record (Earlimart). I had loads of fun the only time I went to CMJ. Other great bands that are playing this year include the Shins, Aloha and Secret Machines.
