SXSW Application Deadline This Friday

Here's a reminder that the application deadline for SXSW is this Friday. The festival is a ton of fun, and any excuse to go to Austin is a good one. In the past four or five years the emphasis seems to have shifted away from the official showcases to the day parties and corporate events. So if you're a band that's thinking of applying, try to lock down some other performances too.....

From the SXSW website:
Apply to Showcase
New this year! Two ways to apply for a showcase slot at SXSW 2008.
Submit an online application from our website by clicking the "Apply To Showcase" link on this page OR submit your application though Sonicbids. It's your choice; the deadlines (October 26, 2007 for international artists, November 9, 2007 for artists in the USA) and fee ($20 for early submissions, $30 after applications submitted after October 5, 2007) are the same.

If you apply through the SXSW website you will need a credit card to pay your submission fee. SXSW accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and Diner's Club. Once your application is submitted, your Primary Contact will be sent a confirmation email with instructions on how to upload MP3s, a biography, an artist photograph, and a press kit.

To apply online via Sonicbids, click the link below. If you don't have a Sonicbids account, you can sign up for a 6 month free trial by using our link. You can pay the application fee with a credit card or Sonicbids site credit. We'll use your Sonicbids Electronic Press Kit to listen to your music and review your press materials. You won't need to upload any additional materials.

Check out the Showcase FAQ for more details.
