Thursday Night Music Options 11/15/07

Film School Play the Echoplex Tonight

Thursday Night Music Options (11/15/07):
[Recommended] Citay / The Moon Upstairs / Joseph Mattson with Ben Chasny / Sea of Air @ 1269 Gallery (Free w/ donations accepted) – Citay put out a new album last week on Dead Oceans. It’s really good. I plan on writing more about it later. It’s basically gentle stoner rock. The band features Ezra Feinberg, Tim Green (Fucking Champs) and the drummer from Tussle. The Moon Upstairs is well worth checking out too. Ben Chasny’s playing with Six Organs of Admittance tomorrow at Amoeba.

[Recommended] Film School / Division Day / Eulogies @ Echoplex ($12) – Congrats to our contest winner. The new Film School album is out on Beggars. It's a nice slice of noise pop/shoegaze. Opening the show are local good guys, Division Day (new album on Eenie Meenie) and Eulogies (Dangerbird). Nice night of music.

Annuals / Manchester Orchestra / The New Frontiers / Kevin Devine @ Troubadour ($14) – I saw the Annuals at Spaceland not that long ago. They’ve got a couple of good songs.

Benefit for WETANDDRY Studios: So So So / Sabertooth. Tiger / Aztlan Underground @ the Scene – Benefit for Manny Nieto to find a new studio.

Semi Precious Weapons / The Binges @ Viper Room ($12) – The Binges are doing the Monday night residency at Spaceland in December.

Calvin Johnson / Anavan @ the Smell ($8) – The man with the monotone.

The Forms @ 3 of Clubs

An Evening with the Source Family: Ya Ho Wa 13 @ Silent Movie Theatre ($15)

Golem @ the Echo ($10)

The King Khan and BBQ Show @ Spaceland ($8) – Mark Sultan

Correatown @ Hotel CafĂ© – They’re doing a Wednesday night residency at the Bordello and picking up additional shows I guess.

You gotta roll with Calvin Johnson, man. Or maybe Correatown 'cause she is talented and gorgeous and intelligent and funny and the light of my life. What would be best is some green tea a jukebox a comfy sofa and both of 'em.
