Wednesday Night Live Music Listings 11/7/07

Dntel Plays the Airliner Tonight (with a band)

Wednesday 11/7/07:

[Recommended] The Hives @ Avalon (Sold Out) – The lead singer’s hilarious and puts on a great show. They always have a great stage setup (Pitchfork’s got some photos or see them in a Finish Line/Nike commercial). The music’s good and they’ve got a new album coming out on November 13th.

[Recommended] Low End Theory: Dntel / Blank Blue @ Airliner ($10 guests / $5 Low End Members) – This is the 8th Anniversary of Dub Lab (and their fundraiser’s going on right now). Dntel (Jimmy Tamborello) is performing with a full band tonight, which he apparently hasn’t done in LA in five years.
Club NME: The Thrills / Small Sins / Rock and Roll @ Spaceland ($12) – The Thrills are an Irish band with a California fixation. I enjoyed their first record, but haven’t heard this one or the last one. If you’re a fan of the Tyde, check them out.

The Hold Steady / Art Brut / The Blood Arm @ The Fonda ($20) – The only thing these two bands really have in common is that their lead singers are both talk singers. The show was originally scheduled for the Wiltern but has been moved to the cozier Fonda (and it’s still not sold out).

Architecture in Helsinki / Glass Candy @ Troubadour ($18) – Night two.

[Recommended] Buddy / Whispertown 2000 @ Hotel Café

Correatown / One Trick Pony @ Bordello ($8)
Filter's Revenge of the Sunset Strip: Sabrosa Purr / The Blakes @ the Roxy ($10)

The Flying Tourbillon Orchestra / Shipwreck @ Silverlake Lounge ($7)
Policy / War Tapes @ Boardner's
