Cass McCombs Play the Fonda Tonight
Jose Gonzalez / Cass McCombs @ The Fonda ($23) – Whenever I hear a Jose Gonzalez song on the radio or TV I tend to stop and listen for a while. He’s a singer-songwriter who pretty much personifies Morning Becomes Eclectic. He covers Knife and Massive Attack. Cass McCombs is a talented singer-songwriter who used to live here, but lives in Chicago now.
Download Cass McComb’s “That’s That” (via Spin)
Japanese Motors / Franklin for Short / Natural Disasters @ Tangier ($5) – If you’re looking for some local (ish) bands and don’t want to leave LA proper, then this is your best bet.
Le Switch / Henry Clay People @ Prospector in Long Beach – A chance for the Long Beach folks to see a couple of the hardest working and most promising LA bands.
Mike Doughty @ Hotel Café (Sold Out) – Ex-Soul Coughing
Johnette Napolitano / David J @ the Roxy ($21.50) – Ex-Concrete Blonde
Los Campesinos / The Most Serene Republic @ the Echo ($15) – This show has been moved from the Troubadour to the Echo
The Slow Poisoner @ Hyperion Tavern (Free) – Don’t blame me, it’s the LA Weekly’s pick.
Straylight Run @ El Rey – THIS SHOW IS CANCELED
